The Why for Jr. High (The vision & purpose
of the C.C.M. Jr. High Fellowship)
- Upreach
-
Our purpose as a Jr.
High youth group is first and foremost to reach
up to our Lord in praise and to glorify Him
in all that we do since He is our reason for
living. Therefore,
whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do,
do all to the glory of God (1 Cor. 10:31).
It is because of this that we seek to provide
a God honoring atmosphere in the Jr. High room
through the time of worship, reading of the
Word, and all else that we do. We want everyone
(Jr. High students and leaders) to leave the
room at the end of the service as more of a
worshipper than when they entered.
- Inreach
- Secondly, our purpose
is to reach within our youth group to try
to help each other grow
in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). It is
because we want to see you grow in the
Lord that we teach the Word of God, have
discipleship groups and student ministries
for your to participate in.
- Outreach -
Lastly, our purpose is to reach out
to the world around us with the love of Jesus.
Christ told his disciples, Go into all
the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark
16:15). It is for this reason that we provide
opportunities for yo to share your faith
in Christ with the unsaved and reach out
to those that are hurting as Christ would
have us do.
Let no one despise your youth, but
be an example to the believers in word, in
conduct, in love, in Spirit, in faith, in purity.
A lot of times people look at today's youth as
problems waiting to happen. others don't even want
to look at them. Those who are optimistic look
at the youth of today as tomorrow's leaders. Here
in 1 Timothy, Paul writes to a young Timothy, not
as a problem waiting to happen, nor someone who
could make a difference in the future, but as someone
to be an example NOW! God doesn't put people on
the shelf because they aren't old enough. He wants
to use all His kids right from the start.
1 Timothy 4:12 Gives six ways in which we can
be examples to those around us:
- Your words. Speak in a way that will be uplifting
and encouraging.
- Your Actions. Act in a way
so that people can tell that you love Jesus.
- Your Love. Love everyone with
God's unconditional love.
- Your Attitude. Put
on the mind (attitude) of Christ (Phil.
2:5-9).
- Your Faithfulness. Server
the Lord faithfully where He has you.
- Your Purity. Flee
also youthful lusts... (2 Timothy
2:22).
I pray that you will not shy away from serving
the Lord but rather server Him now as He is willing
and ready to use you. You are not the people God
wants to use tomorrow, but the people God wants
to use today.
